Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

One weekend away ...

.... made me reflect on so much of my life!

We went camping 'down South', as we talk about going out of the city and driving 'down South' to a few coastal towns about 4 -5 hours drive from Perth.

A friend of ours owns a untouched property there and we decided to take little man camping and spend a long weekend there as well.

One of the most beautiful parts of Western Australia, Margaret River and Augusta.

We had splendid weather while Perth was going through a heat wave that weekend, we drove around, walked around, cooked over open fire, swam in the cold ocean and just sat around sipping on hot coffee or billy tea!

I destressed to much and just did not want to come back to the fake-ness and rush of city life. Arrgghhhh. Once we were back I looked at people in the shops and I felt I can see so many stressed unfriendly faces, fake this, fake that, fake nails, designer clothing, teens dressed to old for their age, crowds and screaming undissiplined kids! Rush rush rush!

I rather want to see the kids early morning in the surf, not caring if their hair dries unruly on their heads from the salt water, girls walking around with mates in their shorts, flip flops and T-shirts while eating dripping ice creams.

I ceriously said to hubby, "how can we make a living down South?"

We (well I) have grand plans, the teens will be finishing High school in 3 years, my degree should take 3 years and whola, we can move away from the city rush, the teens will be young adults then, can choose where they want to study, stay or work and have their very own driver's licences to come and chill out at home. (Yes 'down South' luckily do have a University campus and a colleage in a smaller city near by called Bunbury). Sounds good?

I'm a country born and bred girl as many of you know by now and 10 years in the city feels like just enough I can handle.

I have such a blessed life, great healthy kids, great supportive husband and health!

Untouched wilderness

What more can a girl ask for?

Daily bread?

Oops, came lunch time today I found that there was none bread in our bread container.

I toootally forgot over the weekend to top it up and this morning hubby and kids used the last to make their lunches while I was happily snoozing still; that comes with not having a paid job, washing and dishes can wait 'till I get up, mind you which was 6:45am.

So what to do, what to do?

I rumbled through the fridge and thought, "hmmm maybe an omellette, haven't had one in a while"

So I fried some mushrooms, bokchoi, bacon and tomatoes and later on sprinkled it over the egg. Smelled quite nice although it didn't taste that nice, maybe the bokchoi gave it a bit of a bitter taste? Dunno because we do use it in Chinese stirfries and don't have a problem with the taste, it did look good though and little man and I still ate it.

I suppose I grew up that a sanwich or roll is lunch food, easy for school and to pack to work so it's just a habit to eat bread at lunch, but there is actually so many other options.

What do you eat for lunch?

"You forgot how to play"

My MIL (Mother In Law) said to me the other day, laughingly over the phone, when I mentioned to her now that I'm not working and at home I actually do get very bored.

So I need to learn again how to keep myself occupied and busy, not in normal house chores but those things I always wanted to do.

Play the keyboard, learn to play the guitar, do art, do needlework, do gardening, walk to the park, take little man swimming etc etc.

So today little man and I decided to make our very own Christmas cards for this year.

I have heaps of Art and Craft stuff, a bit of a hoarder in that department ,and over years I kept stuff and packed it away and almost never used it .... until today.

(My stashes of supplies)

I proudly dragged it all out and for this activity, it's great to know I did not spent 1c to make stuff and do something educational with my boy.

(Oh lookie he can write with his left and right hand)

(don't you worry, he was very supervised with those scissors in his hands)

And now after all the hard work it's only fair that mummy have some Bloggy time and little man watch Play school.

(The almost end product.)

I now want to add some writting to the cards, more glitter and pretty stuff and tadaaa, who would not appreciate a home made card?
